Write Them, Lest They Forget
I’m running some ads on Facebook for my blogging platform Silvrback, one of which reads as follows:
“In living, our stories are made. In writing, our stories are remembered. Write them, lest they forget.” I like that.
I’ve been thinking about, and intending to write about, legacies for some time now. In part, . . .
Santo Domingo and Boca Chica
Well, the time has come to wrap up our review of the last leg of our trip. It has been a brief but good introduction to the Dominican Republic, an up and coming expat destination. We've dropped in on the Puerto Plata and Samana (Las Terrenas) areas of the north coast (Atlantic Ocean) and have returned to the south coast (Caribbean Sea) to end . . .
Las Terrenas in Samana
We spent close to $200 for a taxi from Sosua to Las Terrenas, a nearly 3-hour trip along the northern coast. Las Terrenas is on the Samana Peninsula. First impressions were not very positive. I seem to be one of those types who is always burning the candle at both ends. I have a job that has its own demands, plus additional jobs to fill in any spaces left in the life.
To make matters worse, I’m easily distracted which makes me painfully inefficient. That’s a conversation for another day – don’t . . .
My wife and I spent three weeks in Panama this summer. Last summer we did the same in Ecuador. And in January, we squeezed in over a week in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Each was a great visit for us, but in different ways. Investigating warmer environments has been on our agenda as we seek to identify prospective second residences . . .
Reflections on Being Average
I’m just an average guy. I haven’t accomplished anything particularly memorable, nor does it appear anything along this line is going to emerge anytime soon.
A recent quote from an interview on the late artist Prince reminded me again that exceptional performances require exceptional commitments. And average . . .
